This Autumn sees My Yard join Reprebate.com’s growing list of brands on offer. For a brand that claims to be inspired (and started) by a bunch of surfers with a “fuck everyone and their opinions” type attitude, Insight Clothing has certainly smacked it hard in the streetwear / urbanwear fashion world. Started by Aussie pro-surfer Andrew Down 27 years ago (!) Insight paddled out and made it over to the UK shores in 2003 and whilst keeping its activities relatively on the down low, Insight has spent the time VERY wisely and like all good surfers’ motto, you got to wait to catch your perfect wave… and now is the time. With a strong UK stockist base, including the like of Urban Outfitters and ASOS, Insight as a board / skate / surf brand are aiming for the more “established” rivals such as Volcom, Zoo York and Addict. Part of Insight’s long term strategy is to incorporate well known artists, famous pro- skate /surfer artists to help create a separate line known as the Garage Artists range. For Autumn Winter 2010, Insight have a side line called Overkill, featuring original (and rather fucked up, in  a good way) works by legendary skater Jamie Thomas. For the Spring 2011, Insight have a new creative project by long term skater / gypsy Daniel Shimizu. Both these ranges reflect the individual who designed them in a very close and personal way. “There is nothing better for skating than travelling because you get to skate new spots, meet new people, drink new beers, eat new food and all that fun shit”. ‘Nuff said.

New Era has been producing headwear, hats, caps and also more recently streetwear apparel. Started by German Erhardt Koch, New Era first found success with its “Pacer Style” Cap, but the real break through for New Era happened when it won the official contract for sole rights to manufacture official Baseball League Uniform Caps. Before long, New Era caps where “the” cap /head wear to be seen in, and New Era made its move from Major League Baseball to Major league streetwear, with many streetwear brands which exclusively used New Era Caps for their head wear range. New Era, with its 59FIFTY cap now has collaborations left, right and center and can now be called a true style icon of recent time.

This month Reprebate have working together with Kentish Town-based theatre company Giant Olive for their latest project and making sure the cast have the most dapper garms!  With top level choreography from Gary Lloyd; experienced street dancers, rappers, beat boxers and actors, ZIP will be a haunting night at the theatre.

Featuring some nice pieces from LRG Clothing latest collection amongst others, ZIP is a “gun-toting banger of a beatboxed, grimed out, soulful, darkside, bodyshocking musical about a shot dead rubebwoy MC, in a squat turf war..”
