DTA started out in the early 1990's. At this time there were few truly independent and original streetwear fashion labels around. Creative Influences

Two of the biggest names involved in the DTA clothing label are rock star drummer Travis Barker and professional skater and reality TV star Rob Dyrdek:

Robert Stanley "Rob" Dyrdek as an American professional skater Dyrdek is a big name in the urban scene. Dyrdek is a big advocate of street style and is heavily involved in many key urban projects.

Travis Landon Barker Barker is the drummer for the top pop punk band Blink-182 and also involved in a number of other music projects including urban bands The Transplants, and Box Car Racer. Barker is also an active entrepreneur and has been involved in several key urban fashion labels including DTA, Rogue Status and Famous Stars and Straps. Barker has also collaborated with DC Shoe Company on new shoe designs.
