Background

Insight clothing was set up by ex-professional Australian surfer Andrew Down back in the early 1980's. Insight was designed to be a lifestyle brand that promoted the laid-back lifestyle that Down was involved in through his surfing and skating background. Insight grew out of a surfboard business based in the Northern Beaches of Sydney, Australia. This was run by both Down and a fellow surfer Greg Webber. At first the brand produced just a small range of t-shirts and caps that were designed to promote the surfboard business. However demand for this simple range grew. Down and Webber later split up their partnership and Down went on to develop his clothing range to include shorts, hoodies and more.
Insight clothing built up a loyal following in the urban scene but it was not until 2003 when things started to get serious. This viability of the brand was firmly established and so it was time to take things further. Insight began to move to the next level by extending the clothing range with a new wave of t-shirt, hoody and denim designs. This brand is now a firm favourite in the streetwear business with an international appeal.

Insight urban clothing has always managed to combine a relaxed, light-hearted approach with some fundamentally practicality.
