Started the early years of 1991, 2 guys, Rich Woolcott and Tucker Hall set off on a snowboarding trip which ultimately changed their lives forever. Fed up of being looked down on by the establishment for their boarding lifestyle, the two decide to do something about it. They had always talked about starting a clothing company, and with change in the air, they decide now would be the perfect time to do it. Borrowing $5000 from Richard's dad, Volcom was born... Volcom's main ideology was "youth against establishment ", to support those who wanted fight the suppression of the established ways.. From those rocky and wild beginnings, (1st year sales was $2600) Volcom has spread across the globe and whilst the company has matured, the Volcom thinking and philosophy is carried on by its art, music , films, athletes and clothing.
